Pro Wrestling Fusion returned to action with their debut in Daytona Beach , Florida. Here are some of the stories coming out of the show and leading into their next show in Temple Terrace on Saturday, September 5th and their return in Daytona on Friday, October 16th.

New Fusion Tag Champions Crowned: The Dark City Fight Club were scheduled to face The Shane Twins for the Fusion Tag Titles, but due to circumstances beyond their control, they did not make it to Daytona. Instead, Jon Davis and Kory Chavis faced Dagon and Sinn Bodhi for the tag titles. Despite Sinn’s best efforts to smuggle anything into the ring to help, including a trouser snake and scissors. Davis and Chavis were able to use their experience to defeat Dagon and Sinn, and in the process, Jon Davis became a two time Fusion Tag Champion.

Jones and Sheik retain their titles: While we were going to see new tag team champions crowned, there was no guarantee that we would see a new champion in the other two title matches. In another hard fought battle between Chris Jones and TJ Perkins, Chris Jones was able to eke out a victory one more time despite many times when it appeared that Perkins would get the win. The Sheik was also able to successfully defend his title against Too Cold Scorpio in a No Disqualification match that saw tables come into play.

Here are the results from the show:

On the Pre Show:

Match Number One: Nick Primo defeated Johnny Vandal

Primo is able to control the start of the match, but when the action goes to the floor, Vandal takes over. Once the action returns to the ring, Vandal tries for a move from the turnbuckles but he misses and that allows Primo to get the three count after a Northern Lights Suplex.

Match Number Two: Jerrelle Clark defeated Craig Classic

Both men try to get the early advantage but every attempt is countered. Classic takes control but Clark is able to hit a springboard cross body for a near fall. Clark then hits a matrix move and then finished off Craig with a double jump rana followed by a handspring moonsault.

The Main Show

Match Number One: Steve Madison defeated Francisco Ciatso with Amy Vitale and Cannon

Madison is fighting a one-on-three battle with Vitale and Cannon at ringside, but he is able to hold his own until he is tripped by Amy. Cannon helps Ciatso keep the advantage. Ciatso loses momentum when he misses a move from the turnbuckles. Cannon tries to distract Madison to allow Ciatso to attack Madison , but Madison sees it and he gets the three count.

After the match, Cannon holds Madison for Ciatso, but Ciatso hits Cannon instead. Madison with the Finger Point of Doom to Cannon and a piledriver.

Match Number Two: Tommy Taylor defeated Titan

Taylor does his best to stay away from his larger opponent but Titan is able to corner Taylor . While Titan uses his size advantage, Taylor uses his speed advantage to try to wear down the big man. They fight to the floor and then Titan press slams Taylor back into the ring. Titan wears down Taylor with a bear hug, but Taylor is able to get the three count after a cross body when Titan misses a boot into the corner.

After the match, Titan pulls Taylor into the ring and hits a power bomb.

Match Number Three: Awesome Kong defeated Sumie Sakai

Sakai tries to avoid the monster at the start of the match and tries to take her down with a drop kick but when she tries for a cross body, Kong catches her. Sakai gets a few near falls but she misses a moonsault. Sakai blocks a power bomb once, but Kong is able to finish off Sakai with an Awesome Bomb.

Match Number Four: Chris Jones defeated TJ Perkins to retain the Fusion Junior Heavyweight Title

Jones tries to work on Perkins’ leg, but Perkins works on Jones’ back and then he takes things to the floor. Perkins maintains control until Jones hits an Asai DDT on the apron and then he works on Perkins’ ribs. Perkins fights back and hits a piledriver but Jones is able to kick out. Perkins is not deterred as he tries to get Jones to tap out to a cloverleaf but Jones gets to the ropes. Despite numerous near falls, Perkins cannot finish off Jones and Jones gets the three count with an Asai DDT.

It is time for the Fusion Bombs to come to the ring and dance. They are joined by King Kong Fu, but they are interrupted by a Prince Iaukea video.

Match Number Five: Prince Iaukea defeated King Kong Fu

Fu has control early in the match and he even leads Iaukea with a dip before hitting a short arm clothesline. Iaukea misses a charge at Fu and goes to the ramp. Iaukea is able to wear down Fu but Fu starts to recover and he Fus up and hits a monkey flip. Iaukea fights off this flurry and gets the three count after an enzuigiri.

Match Number Six: Dark City Fight Club (Jon Davis and Kory Chavis) defeated Sinn Bodhi and Dagon to become the new Pro Wrestling Fusion Tag Champions

Before the match starts, the referee removes a number of foreign objects from Sinn, including a trouser snake. Dark City use a number of double team maneuvers on Sinn and Dagon. Dagon and Sinn work over Davis until he hits a devastating spinebuster. Sinn tries to use a foreign object that the referee missed but he accidentally hits Dagon and that allows Davis and Chavis to get the three count after a neck breaker and power bomb combination.

Match Number Seven: Sheik defeated 2 Cold Scorpio to retain the Pro Wrestling Fusion Heavyweight Title

Sheik tries to take advantage of Scorpio before the bell rings and he works over the challenger. Scorpio fights back and gets in some offense but Sheik works on Scorpio’s neck and back. When Scorpio tries to go up top, Sheik knows what is coming so he gets to the other side of the ring. The referee gets too close to the action and he is knocked out. Sheik gets a table but he is the one to go through it after Scorpio hits a moonsault. Unfortunately, the referee was still out and there was no count for Scorpio. While Scorpio checks on the referee, Sheik gets a rollup with some assistance and gets the three count.

Show Thoughts:

There was a nice crowd for this show and they were lively throughout the show. With the way the building was set up, there were some fans who were on top of the ring.

The ‘pre show’ matches did a good job of getting the crowd into the show. I thought the Craig Classic/Jerrelle Clark match was the better of the pre show matches and the finish of the match was well done with the double jump rana followed by the handspring moonsault.

I thought the Madison/Ciatso match was okay and the things that happened after the match were good. It seems like Cannon is destined to get his butt kicked after every match. At least this time it wasn’t King Kong Fu.

I thought the Kong/Sakai match was very good. I thought Sakai got in most of the offense in the match but she just couldn’t beat a larger opponent. You would expect Kong to dominate based on what you see in TNA, but it was a competitive match where Kong gets the victory because she was able to overpower Sakai at the end, but Sakai appeared to have a chance to win.

I thought the TJ Perkins/Chris Jones match was good and built on their previous match in Fort Pierce . There was a lot of back and forth action and I thought that TJ had a chance to win, just like in the match in Fort Pierce .

I had one problem with the match and it is something that I have seen a lot over the last few years and that is the minimizing the importance of moves that were finishers when I grew up. There are some companies where you expect to see people kicking out of extreme high impact moves, but I want to be able to see a piledriver be a finisher when the cover is made right after the move is hit.

I thought the King Kong Fu/Iaukea match went a bit too long.

I did not think I would ever use the phrase ‘trouser snake’ in one of my reports, but thanks to Sinn Bodhi, I can strike that off my list.

The team of Sinn Bodhi and Dagon worked well together because of their appearance and in ring styles. Sinn worked the crowd very well and reacted to the chants of his former gimmick.

I was glad to see the Dark City Fight Club win the tag titles because they were an established team against a team that appeared to be thrown together.
