FUSION REPORT 5/27/09 by Richard Trionfo
By Webmaster • May 27th, 2009 • Category: NewsPro Wrestling Fusion celebrated their first anniversary in Fort Pierce, Florida with their VAMANOS BANG! BANG! Show. Here are some of the stories coming out of the show as Pro Wrestling Fusion moves into its second year.
New Tag Team Champions Crowned
The Pro Wrestling Fusion Tag Team Champions Blunt Force Trauma Jon Davis and Bruce Santee were facing difficult odds to successfully defend their titles at VAMANOS BANG! BANG! because Santee was unable to wrestle due to a concussion. Jon Davis was also on the injured list because of his wrist, but he was willing to wrestle. However, Fusion Commissioner Casey Thompson would not allow it so Blunt Force Trauma was forced to forfeit the titles.
The International Assassins, who were supposed to face Blunt Force Trauma, did get a chance to challenge for the titles and Chris Gray and the Sheik faced Nick Primo and Kory Chavis, who were accompanied by Jon Davis. With some help from their manager Fabulous Frank and a fireball, the International Assassins were able to win the titles.
Chris Jones gets hard fought win to retain Junior Heavyweight Title
Chris Jones knew that he would be facing T.J. Perkins after Perkins won the Fusion Clash at the last Fusion show. Despite having time to prepare for Perkins, I don’t think Jones expected what happened at VAMANOS BANG! BANG! Perkins and Jones had a classic light heavyweight match that saw many opportunities for Perkins to win the title, but in the end Chris Jones was able to hold on and successfully retain the Pro Wrestling Fusion Light Heavyweight Title. On this night, Chris Jones showed that he could hang with the veteran Perkins and could match him move for move. It looks like Jones’ feud with Prince Iaukea taught Jones an important lesson and he should be able to build on that if he is going to feud with Perkins.
King Kong Fu monkeys with Francisco Ciatso in Blindfold Match
The Double Deuce Social Club was missing their leader Amy Vitale at VAMANOS BANG! BANG! and Cannon was not allowed at ringside for the Blindfold Match between King Kong Fu and Francisco Ciatso. While Cannon could not be at ringside with Ciatso, he found a spot in the front row to cause problems for the giant monkey. Cannon’s actions allowed Ciatso to remove the hood that prevented either man from seeing in order to attack King Kong Fu. After Cannon was removed from the building by security, Fu was able to feel around and take care of Ciatso.
Here are the results from the show:
Match Number One: JC Slater defeats 86 Murphy in a Pro Wrestling Fusion Student Match
Murphy is able to get the early advantage until both men alternate near falls. They each work on the arm in an attempt to find a weak point on the other. Murphy works on Slater, but Slater is able to get the three count with a crucifix.
After the match, the International Assassins of The Sheik and Chris Gray attack Slater and Murphy while their manager Fabulous Frank tells everyone that this is the way to treat Americans. Nick Primo comes out to help Slater and Murphy, but Gray and Sheik take care of Primo until Primo can get a chair and he hits Sheik with it and Gray leaves the ring.
Match Number Two: Jack Manley defeats Adam Evans
Evans works on Manley’s arm but Manley uses the ropes and then he confronts some fans at ringside. Evans continues to maintain control of the match until Manley hits an Acid Drop. Manley shows some aggression as he connects with a series of European uppercuts. Manley avoids a boot as he comes off the turnbuckles, but he cannot capitalize and he misses an elbow drop to allow Evans to get a few near falls. Manley gets the three count with a rollup and handful of Evans’ tights.
Match Number Three: Dagon defeats Craig Classic
Craig works on the arm but Dagon escapes by biting Craig’s hand. Craig responds with a clothesline to take Dagon to the mat. Craig gets a near fall with a cross body as he continues to work on the man from Spook City. Craig goes up top again but Dagon stops him and hits a superplex. They go to the floor and both men exchange chops before returning to the ring. Craig hits a missile drop kick and gets a near fall after a Blue Thunder Driver, but when he tries for a running knee without a knee pad, Dagon hits the Death Valley Driver for the three count.
Match Number Four: Tommy Taylor defeats Shawn Osborne
Before the match starts, Osborne takes a sign from a fan in the crowd and Taylor takes it from Osborne and returns it to the fan. Osborne and Taylor both work on the arm. Taylor is able to gain control but when he tries for a butterfly suplex, Osborne gets out of the ring to regroup and stop Taylor’s momentum. Osborne is able to gain the advantage when he returns to the ring through some chicanery and he sends Taylor to the floor. Osborne tries to finish off Taylor with an arm bar submission but Taylor makes it to the ropes and refuses to give up. Osborne continues to work on the arm with a hammer lock slam but Taylor with a drop kick and a DDT for the three count.
Jon Davis comes to the ring with Kory Chavis. Jon talks about the International Assassins and how they jumped his tag team partner Bruce Santee and gave him a concussion. Then they attacked him. Jon mentions that he has another tag team partner with him and that is Kory Chavis so they are ready to fight the International Assassins tonight.
Fusion Commissioner Casey Thompson comes out and he says that since Jon is not medically cleared due to his injury, he cannot wrestle tonight. Thompson strips Blunt Force Trauma of the Fusion Tag Titles.
Jon mentions that they were undefeated and now they cannot wrestle but Thompson mentions the liability issue. Davis gives Thompson two options, either he leaves or he gets his gear. Jon drops the belts instead of handing them to Thompson.
As Davis goes to the back, The International Assassins (Chris Gray and The Sheik) come out and they brawl with Davis and Chavis and the International Assassins attack Davis’ injured hand. Nick Primo comes out to help Davis and Chavis and that leads to our next match.
Match Number Five: The International Assassins (Chris Gray and The Sheik with Fabulous Frank) defeat Kory Chavis and Nick Primo to become the new Pro Wrestling Fusion Tag Team Champions
All four men battle on the floor and the International Assassins use everything, including steel chairs to wear down their opponents. Sheik and Chavis fight into the crowd. The action returns to the ring as Gray and Sheik work over Primo. Primo gets caught in the ropes and Gray and Sheik make sure that Chavis cannot return to the ring while they work over Primo. Sheik gets his spike but he is not able to use it , and Primo grabs it but the referee takes it from Primo. Sheik shoots a fireball in Primo’s face and that allows the International Assassins to get the win with a butterfly driver.
It was time for intermission.
Match Number Six: King Kong Fu defeats Francisco Ciatso in a Blindfold Match
All members of the Double Deuce Social Club were banned from ringside so Cannon took a seat in the front row to help out Ciatso while not breaking the rules. While Ciatso and Fu try to feel for their opponent, Ciatso gets a hold of the referee and he rolls him up. Commissioner Thompson sees Cannon in the front row and he tries to stop Cannon from helping Ciatso. Cannon is able to distract the referee and that allows Ciatso to take off his hood and attack Fu. Cannon is removed from the building by security and then Fu slams Ciatso and hits a senton for the three count.
Match Number Seven: Chris Jones defeats TJ Perkins to retain the Pro Wrestling Fusion Junior Heavyweight Title
Perkins tries to ground Jones at the start of the match and turn it into a mat wrestling match to take away Jones’ aerial exploits. When Jones is able to hit some high impact moves, Perkins is able to match him move for move. Perkins gets a near fall after a suplex. Jones tries for a drop kick but Perkins moves out of the way and Jones goes to the floor. Perkins works on Jones’ arm and he slams Jones on the arm while he has it in a hammer lock. Jones fights back and hits a springboard missile drop kick followed by a double jump moonsault for a near fall. Perkins thinks he has the match won after a super kick and brainbuster but Jones kicks out at two. Perkins applies a cross arm breaker but Jones is able to get a near fall. Perkins misses a senton splash and that allows Jones to hit an Asai DDT for the three count.
Match Number Eight: Steve Madison defeats Prince Iaukea to retain the Pro Wrestling Fusion Heavyweight Title
Before the match starts, Iaukea confronts some of the fans in the front row. Madison works over Iaukea while Iaukea tries to work on the arm. Iaukea expands the attack on Madison and he sends Madison outside the ring. They return to the ring and Iaukea gets a series of near falls. Madison recovers and tries for a piledriver, but Iaukea blocks it and Iaukea gets a near fall with a frog splash. Madison gets the three count after an Ace Crusher, power slam, and piledriver.
